Richard Musoke Ssewanyana was honoured as the recipient of the second annual Dr Apollo Memorial Award, a distinction created to recognise individuals who have made extraordinary contribution to the association and its members.

The award is in memory of the late Dr. Apollo Nsubuga-Kyobe, the association’s former President. Dr Apollo dedicated his life to promoting the community and expanding its reach to the broader world. He passed away over two years ago, and the award is a lasting tribute to his legacy. Davis Wamawungo was the first recipient of the prize.

Ssewanyana has been an active and dedicated association member, consistently giving his time and effort to ensure its success. He has served on the Local Organising Committee for the Uganda Independence Celebrations and has played a vital role in the Constitutional Review Committee. His continued contributions have significantly impacted the association’s activities and its members.

“I’ve been doing all of this for the community, and to be recognised with this award is truly a surprise,” said Ssewanyana upon receiving the honour. “I am deeply honoured and inspired by this recognition. Thank you very much.”

Richard Welch, Member of Parliament for the North Eastern Metropolitan Region, presented the award. He praised Ssewanyana’s tireless dedication to the association’s mission and his commitment to furthering Dr. Apollo’s vision.
